About the Awards Gala
Each year at the Awards Gala, the Foundation honors credit union heroes for their dedication to the industry as well as credit union and chapter winners of CUNA’s Awards Competition. The Foundation’s awards committee selects state-level winners for CUNA’s annual national awards competition. These awards are designed to encourage and recognize credit unions which demonstrate social responsibility (the Dora Maxwell Award), the credit union philosophy (the Louise Herring Award), and financial education (the Desjardins Awards). The nomination process for the Carolinas Foundation’s Hero Award opens during the summer of each year with a deadline in the fall.
